Thee lovely Francillia – lead singer/songwriter for  Bay Area psychedelic pop/duo Beatnik Castle, will sing the “Star Spangled Banner” at the Ballroom Brawl professional boxing card this Friday, November 6^th at the Hyatt Regency in beautiful downtown Tampa, FL. Promoted by One Punch Productions and Fight Factory Promotions, Ballroom Brawl will feature undefeated welterweight prospect and St. Petersburg resident Keith “One Time” Thurman (10-0, 10 KO’s), Tampa cruiserweight Nick “The Showstopper” Iannuzzi (12-1, 7 KO’s) and other talented  Bay Area fighters.

“It’s always an honor to sing our national anthem,” says Francillia, a US Army veteran and current member of the Active Reserves. “But it’s even more special to sing in front of my home town.” Though she admittedly confesses her love for the fight game (she’s a red belt in Tai Kwando), she adds that Quincy B, Beatnik Castle’s other “indescribable” half,  also is a huge fight fan.  “Quincy religiously keeps up with the sport more than me and still trains in the gym as if he’s still fighting,” she laughs.  “We’re huge fight fans and it’s an honor to be helping out Terry and One Punch Productions!” Francillia adds.

Bay Area psychedelic duo and Mad Monk, LTD recording artists Beatnik Castle featuring Francillia have been invited by Universal Music Day to perform a special acoustic set at the Third Annual Universal Music Day Concert in Clearwater Saturday, October 10 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  Accompanying Francillia and Quincy B will be guitarist Justin Elfils. The Bay Area’s hottest dance/pop duo are performing rare “unplugged” shows in the Bay Area this month as they celebrate their  debut CD “Will U B Mine?” CD maxi-single being recognized by National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Beatnik Castle featuring Francillia are nominated on the Official Ballot for the 2010 Grammy Awards in three categories, including Song of the Year, Best Dance Single, and Record of the Year. This is the third consecutive NARAS recognition for Tampa-based independent label Mad Monk, LTD.  In 2007, Doom-metallers Peasants of Posture had four different songs from their debut CD CounterRevolution nominated in four different categories.
